Nature is a powerful aspect of life that allows sufficient space for thoughts, healing, and inspiration for certain individuals. Sublime nature in Frankenstein is portrayed as a place of significant inspiration for Victor. The isolation and alone time that he has during his creating process produces intellectual ideas and peace for him as a busy creator. Frankenstein is a novel full of regret and decision making. The story has a cold tone, associating with the main character’s heart. The state of illness and paleness that Victor faces during his studies, represents a theme of bitterness, leading to intense incidents, such as his family’s deaths. Victor visits several beautiful places throughout the story in the pursuit of fleeing from his state of regret, and a desire of peace and quiet. It is appropriate that the novel ends in ice, because it sums up the cold aspect of the story. The ship being trapped in ice relates to Victor’s state-of-mind when he faces many trials during his life. As a reader, I personally believe that nature can be powerful for those that seek to find it. Nature provides beauty and healing for people who wish for time alone or a peaceful sight to catch.
